The Hearts for Haiti program began in 2010 as a way for the children of the Murrieta Church of Christ to help support a feeding program for the children of Haiti. The work has been blessed and continues to grow. It now receives support from both the children who give each week during class as well as from the church budget. Through God’s support the Murrieta Church of Christ has been blessed to help feed over 700 souls each day by partnering with Haitian Christians and the US based non-profit Kum Ba Yah foundation. Joseph Joel and Bolivar Oliver, Haitian Christian men who direct Christian schools outside Cap Haitian Haiti, ensure the food gets to the children. The Duty Christian School in Duty Haiti and the Union Christian School in La Mazaire Haiti are active centers of learning and faith. Since the implementation of the feeding program the children have blossomed and they grow in knowledge and wisdom. Food is made or bought locally which helps to keep costs reasonable and invests in the local Haitian economy. We were excited to travel to Haiti in September 2014 to work with, and learn from, our Haitian brothers and sisters. Pictures of some of the children, as well as a short video of Bolivar handing out food, is below.
